Which size for my froggymouth ?

How to choose the right size ?

The rule: horizontally, the Froggymouth must be slightly smaller than the size of the patient’s mouth.

Why ?

The action of the Froggymouth is to inhibit the facial nerve – and thus prevent contractions of the lips, chin and cheeks muscles during swallowing.
The inhibition of the facial nerve will favor the action of its antagonist, the trigeminal nerve. The latter controls the respiratory centers in the pontine tegmentum through its sensory nucleus, and will therefore favor a restoration of nasal breathing.

Therefore, when in doubt between two sizes, we will always recommend the smaller one. This will avoid stretching the corner of the lips and thus stimulate the facial nerve.
